Not-Nael’s voice is low, resonant, and bitter. She tries to imagine a world where she (or, it sounds like, the Warrior) was able to save what remained of the White Raven from Bahamut’s clutches in time and finds that her imagination isn’t up to the task.
Even so, hearing of Grandfather’s involvement is heartening. He would never have knowingly allowed harm to come to her or Alphinaud. Asking them to reach out to someone thought to be beyond salvation in order to see if they really are, though, rings true to her ears. He would never abandon someone if he hadn’t first tried to help them, and she has done everything in her power to follow the same creed.
Whoever the Garlean standing in front of them has become, it’s only right for her to try reaching out.
