unihilism: (arms crossed)

"I guess it's just more common in my world," Malos says, "and also in like, fiction. Movies." Shit, should he assume people just have movies? Alrest doesn't even! "Books, or whatever. Get you a computer that manages everything on a Ship like this, especially this size, because humans would naturally make mistakes and the last thing you want is the security or the bubble keeping us from being irradiated depending solely on a human's ability to remember to flip a switch, or whatever. And then you just make it so the computer itself is also a sentient, thinking, being. Person? Whether or not it considers itself a person is the kind of existential crap you REALLY only see in books and stuff, but I guess maybe someone should ask it."

..."I have massively gotten away from the point."

Thank god the steps aren't mirrored, Malos thinks, and does his best to ignore the rest. It's easy when he apparently has so many opinions on the AI thing. (Gee, who would've guessed.)

"The only demands it's made that I know of are, like, 'please help me make repairs, I'll give you goodies in return,' and uh, I don't know, 'don't go here for your own safety'. So normal computer overseeing a ship where the computer has been programed to prioritize passenger safety things. Especially when the Ship was meant to have its own crew, too, but the crew's all gone, and it's just us, now."
