He turns and finally breaks eye(socket) contact with himself to look at Neuvillette. "... My father's on the ship." From the flat tone of his voice it's obvious that this doesn't thrill him. Especially with what he says next.

"He's already gotten into several fights, including with Shang Beida. He also did... hurt me... but I've healed it." It's fine, that's fine. He's fine about it. "He's a horrible person and... I can't bring myself to hurt him."

He's only been away from his world for a little over a month. It's still hard. It's hard and Casper's holding back tears. His voice quakes a little bit. "I know... he's not a good parent. I know neither of my parents are. But... they're all I have at home. He's all I have at home. He kept me fed and clothed and housed and that's... that's enough, right? Right?"

The strain in his voice is wearing it thin, and his hands are shaking. He knows Neuvillette isn't human but he's seen enough human behavior to know. He's seen things in his courtroom, surely, that are worse than this.

(But worse doesn't mean okay. It'll never be okay and he knows that but it could be worse.)
